In 1.3-inch hard drive to fit 40 GB of data

The company released a LaCie external hard drives Little Disk form factor 1.3-inch, accommodates 30 and 40 GB of data. For much of the hard drives of this size could fit no more than 12 gigabytes of data.


Technologies that makes the size of new units equal size memory card, Compact Flash II, has developed a Korean company Samsung. It is worth noting that this is not the smallest hard drives in the world. In early 2007, Toshiba introduced the hard drive form factor of 0.85 inches, but it was located only 8 gigabytes of data. 

Little Disk will be available in February 2008 and will cost 130 and 160 dollars respectively.Previously it was assumed that 1,3-inch hard drives are widely distributed only by mid-2008. 

Hard drives small size traditionally used mostly in portable devices. For example, one of the first discs of the form factor 1.8-inch (half an inch more Little Disk) used the creators of the super player iPod.
